Why West Egg Cafe is One of Atlanta’s Best Spots for Breakfast and Brunch
Super Bowl LIII just ended in Atlanta, GA which means there are a ton of happy Patriot fans. Although Alantans could not take home a win on their own turf, the city will still benefited economically. So much that there will be an increase in revenue for ground transportation, hotels and Airbnb rentals, and small businesses. Having welcomed tons of travelers to their neighborhoods, people have been able to experience new cultures, attractions, and FOOD! Based on my love for cuisine and travel, I figured I would share one of my most recent discoveries: West Egg Cafe.
West Egg Cafe
The Vibe
Designers of the West Egg Cafe created a chic, farmhouse ambiance and understood the importance of maximizing space. By draping long curtains inside and arranging a mix of mid-century and rustic furniture, they created a sense of privacy in a large, open room and nailed the chic-farmhouse theme. The front of house highlights a comfortable waiting area and photo booth, which I found to be unusual and refreshing. There is also a coffee shop, bakery, bar, inside dining, and heated patio for outside dining. I offer snaps and claps for their ability to market and create a space to satisfy customers with diverse needs.
The Coffee and bakery
West Egg Cafe understands the importance of brewing quality coffee. They partnered with Bartdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters in order to continuously serve local, fresh coffee. To take my mind off of the long wait and mollify my hunger, I ordered a Cinnamon Vanilla Latte with soy milk and a shot of espresso. It was the firm time I had never coffee with such a thick layer of foam. I was not a huge fan of the spume, but once I slurped past the thick layer, I was able to appreciate the warm and soothing cup of joy.
The Food
It didn’t take long for me to decide what to order because LO AND BEHOLD, West Egg Cafe offers Salmon Cakes Benedict (SCB)! In my opinion, SCB is a must try just about any time I am out for brunch. Although smaller than I would have hoped, the Salmon Cakes Benedict consisted of more fish and less bread — making the dish better than anticipated! The salmon cakes were topped with poached eggs lemon caper hollandaise. In my experience, sometimes capers can overwhelm the flavor of SCB; however, West Egg Cafe placed the perfect amount on top! To complement these tasty patties, I ordered a skillet potatoes mixed with sautéed onions. As opposed to the roasted garlic grits, I opted for this side after a fellow Alantan made the recommendation.
My mom ordered a turkey sausage and veggie omelet, which had every vegetable offered on the menu except jalapeños. Unfortunately, I no longer eat turkey so, I was didn’t taste it. However, my mom informed me that the dish was cheesy, flavorful, and the egg was fluffy. She also enjoyed a side of skillet potatoes and a warm biscuit.
West Egg Cafe welcomes all people with all types of agendas. Whether you’re making a morning coffee run, meeting friends for brunch, or enjoying breakfast with loved ones, this restaurant will surely satisfy a grumbling tummy.
Tips for Dining:
Dine early — This is a well-known restaurant, which means at times the wait can be longer than anticipated. My suggestion is to rise early or opt for brunch, because business is boomin’ between 10am - 12pm.
Carpool — West Egg Cafe is located in West Midtown, which makes it the perfect location if you are staying in the heart of Atlanta or along the outskirts of the city. However, parking can be a bit tricky, so I recommend coordinating carpool with friends.
Talk to the Hostess — They are friendly and helpful, however might forget where you are seated during your wait. In other words, remain in plain view and within close proximity or else you might miss your name being called for a table — like me (lol).
